I-DEAS NX Series is a legacy, integrated CAD/CAE/CAM suite built for end-to-end product development—from conceptual design and detailed engineering through simulation and manufacturing. It combines robust 3D parametric and surface modeling, assembly design, and 2D drafting with built-in finite element analysis for structural, thermal, and modal studies, plus meshing and geometry healing tools. For manufacturing, it provides NC programming, toolpath verification, and support for mold, sheet-metal, and machining workflows. Widely used in automotive, aerospace, and industrial equipment, it ran on Windows and UNIX platforms and supported common data exchange formats such as IGES, STEP, DXF/DWG, and STL. The I-DEAS NX Series also offered PDM integration and a clear migration path to NX, enabling organizations to carry forward models, drawings, and analysis data. Although now discontinued and superseded by NX, it remains notable for its simulation-driven design approach and tight integration across disciplines.
